Peter Pan

Wow…I’ve done an absolutely pitiful job of updating this the past couple of weeks! It’s been crazy around here! Between working on the addition, the closing of PHS (an ignorant, arrogant decision – decisions about children should never be made solely based on money!), and Bryce’s birthday – it has been insane in the Havens’ household. I promise to try and do better with the updates.

Hmm…where to begin with the updates. Bryce, my mom, and I went to the Barter Theater to watch Peter Pan on our first day of Easter break. We had a blast! When we ordered the tickets, the only place left was the front row or way back in the nose bleed section. So, we opted for the front row and kept our fingers crossed that Bryce would sit through the entire show. Amazingly, he did! He was captivated the entire time and is still flying around the house acting like Peter Pan! Pirates and Indians ran down the aisles and some even hid right in front of us during the show. When Captain Hook stood in front of Bryce, he hid his eyes behind his zippy (a little blanket type thing) and just peered out occasionally until the villain moved to the other side of the stage – it was too cute!

Of course, no outing would be complete without a memorable Bryce moment. And, he certainly didn’t disappoint! When Tinker Bell was dying and her light was going out, Peter Pan made this heartfelt plea to the audience about us needing to believe in fairies to bring her back to life. Then he came right up to Bryce and said to him, “Do you believe in fairies?” Bryce looked straight back at him and somberly said “No.” For those of you who know my Bryce, his voice is not at all quiet…so his answer boomed through the theater. Needless to say, Peter Pan decided asking a toddler was not a smooth move and he quickly asked the rest of the audience the same question (and amazingly, the rest of the audience DID believe in fairies). Oh my. Gotta love the honesty of children!
